In a Flash: Marinko’s Story of Speed and Creativity

Now you see him. Now you don’t. 

When he is in the office, he is chit-chatting with everyone, cracking jokes and even playfully teasing his colleagues. When he’s working, he is deep in the creative zone, nowhere to be found.

You’ll often see him buzzing around from table to table, overflowing with energy. His energetic presence is often combined with a suitable ⚡sign hanging from his neck, Flash being his second favorite superhero after Spiderman. 

It’s not difficult to guess that, given his dynamic personality. If I could choose one quote to describe him, it would be:

“Life is locomotion. If you’re not moving, you’re not living,” uttered by no other than Barry Allen.

Ladies and gents, his name is Marko Marinkov. 

He usually goes by Marinko in the office, and is a web designer in Flow Ninja. Besides his design skills, he claims that his another job and hobby is music, as he is also part of a DJ group called The New Culture (stylzed as The New Cvltvre).

“I started with the New Culture in 2017, and this is actually the first time I explored design—I needed it for the posters, the logo, and the entire brand.”

Marko’s first love is actually soccer. For 10 years, he had success playing for local clubs in Niš, but all of that had to stop as Marko had to focus on his grades in school. Today, he has remained an active sports practitioner, hitting the gym and playing soccer and other sports. 

Marko and Flow Ninja: A New Opportunity

Covid slowed down his music career, so he wanted to try something else. “I only knew that I wanted to do something creative, as I only enjoy that type of work.”

Marko started exploring available jobs and stumbled upon Flow Ninja. That’s when he started diving deep into tools such as Figma and learning web design.

“Flow Ninja didn’t have any open positions for designers, but I sent my resume anyway, and — they liked it!”

At that point, Marinko shifted his focus from design in general to web design, and he has been doing it successfully for several years now.

How’s It Going at Flow Ninja, Marinko?

“I am a very social person, and the aspect of Flow Ninja I enjoy the most is definitely people.”

Marko doesn’t need to say how much he enjoys being part of the Flow Ninja collective. One can see that his outgoing personality makes him popular among his colleagues.

“I like how we’re always there for each other, helping each other, even for non-work related stuff.”

He found it difficult to pick a favorite memory, insisting that every team-building excursion and company party held a special place in his heart.

“I also hold dear every memory of receiving praise for my web design skills, particularly when it comes from my more seasoned superiors. Those moments tend to leave a lasting impression on me.”

Can you recommend a movie or a TV series?

I am not big on movies or TV shows. I can recommend Breaking Bad, and I am currently waiting for Season 2 of House of Dragon.

What’s your ideal remote location?‍

Home. I focus most when I am at home, with no distractions.

Can you recommend a travel destination?

Amsterdam. In fact, the entire country of Netherlands. I don’t know why I love it. Actually, I do — it’s the fantastic music scene.

Activities everyone should try?

Any sport. I particularly like going to the gym and playing soccer.
